Alastair Moore is an environmental researcher, urban planner and eco-entrepreneur. His research interests include energy-wise cities, material flow and ecological footprint analyses, urban metabolism studies, business benchmarking, and econometric modeling based on system dynamics. In recent years he has examined the respective roles of government and the marketplace in promoting sustainable energy use. Alastair is Principal of D&A Planning Ltd, and a director of the One Earth Initiative, which advocates for one-planet living. In 2006 he launched Canada’s first green building material supply store in order to put theory into practice, and to understand the interplay between green building policy and consumer behaviour.
